Unpacking the Cultural Rights-Based Approach
Explore the cultural rights-based approach (CRBA) in EUNIC's upcoming online Knowledge Sharing Workshop on 25 February, co-hosted by Danish Cultural Institute, Arts Council Malta, ifa, Goethe-Institut, British Council, Croatian Ministry of Culture and Ukrainian Institute.

What are cultural rights and what does it mean to adopt a cultural rights-based approach? And how are EUNIC members applying this approach in their work in international cultural relations?
This online workshop will examine cultural rights in practice and how they can be adopted in different contexts - from artistic freedom of expression and gender mainstreaming to climate action, cultural heritage and decolonisation. It will also explore how institutions, cultural professionals and citizens can contribute to strengthening cultural rights, as well as the next steps for advancing this approach within the EUNIC network at the international level.

Workshop objectives
Knowledge Sharing Workshops are hosted by EUNIC member organisations, providing a space for professional exchange. They bring together key staff members and, at times, external stakeholders to explore different topics relevant to the strengthening of the EUNIC network.
This workshop aims to contribute to building members’ capacity to understand the broad scope of the cultural rights-based approach. This includes capturing what aspects of cultural rights have so far been prioritized by EUNIC members, and what aspects are still emerging.
More specifically:
1. Understand how EUNIC members, artists, and other cultural actors can raise awareness of the use of the UN Charters’ cultural rights through the cultural rights-based approach (CRBA).
2. Recognize the broad scope of cultural rights by addressing at least 4 different cultural rights topics in workshops based on presentations by EUNIC members.
3. Address reporting and documentation of violated cultural rights to protect citizens, artists, and other cultural actors.
