Administrative arrangement signed between EUNIC and the European Union

On 16 May 2017, EUNIC and the European Union made a strong commitment in their working relationship towards an improved cooperation in the field of cultural activities, by the signing of an administrative agreement. The arrangement outlines joint principles, values and objectives for cooperation as well as practical arrangements for its implementation.

The themes of the cooperation are based on those defined in the 2016 Joint Communication: Towards an EU strategy for international cultural relations and it was confirmed joint actions between the EU and EUNIC should look at:

  • Promoting culture and intercultural dialogue for peaceful intercommunity relations
  • Supporting culture as an engine for sustainable social and economic development
  • Reinforce cooperation on cultural heritage

The arrangement was signed at a ceremony in Brussels by EUNIC President Michael Metz Morch and Lotte Knudsen from European External Action Service (EEAS). The Deputy Director General of EAC Jens Nymnand-Christensen was represented at the ceremony by EAC Head of Unit Walter Zampieri. The full text of the agreement can be viewed here.
